QBE's travel insurance business was acquired by nib Holdings Limited (nib) on 13 May 2019. We are in the process of updating the Travel Insurance Cover website, and will relaunch shortly with a new range of policies for NZ travellers.

All QBE Travel Insurance policies have a 21 day cooling off period from the date of issue. If you decide for whatever reason that the policy is not suitable, it can be cancelled with a full refund (provided that the trip has not commenced and there are no claims to be made on the policy).

QBE Assist – Worldwide Emergency Assistance

Worldwide medical and emergency assistance is included with all QBE Travel Insurance policies, and is provided by QBE Assist who have been assisting travellers in need all over the world since 1992. Policyholders gain access to the global reach and expertise on QBE Assist's trained medical and insurance specialists who are equipped to assist in an extensive range of emergencies. QBE Assist can be contacted by policyholders 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, from anywhere in the world using the toll free numbers printed on the Certificate of Insurance, or by reverse charges in countries where a toll free number is not available.

Existing medical conditions

Existing medical conditions as defined in the policy wording are not automatically covered. If applying for a Leisure International, Frequent Traveller or Executive International policy, it is necessary to disclose medical conditions and obtain an assessment for cover. Cover for existing medical conditions is not available under the Budget International and Discover New Zealand policies. More »
