QBE Frequent Traveller Policy

QBE's travel insurance business was acquired by nib Holdings Limited (nib) on 13 May 2019. We are in the process of updating the Travel Insurance Cover website, and will relaunch shortly with a new range of policies for NZ travellers.

Annual travel insurance for frequent travellers, covering unlimited international trips up to a maximum duration of 60 days per trip. Cost-effective and convenient cover for multiple trips.

  • Travel with confidence with a policy underwritten by QBE Insurance and access to the QBE Assist emergency assistance network
  • Convenience of an annual policy to cover all of your international trips for 12 months (subject to policy terms)
  • Unlimited trips up to 60 days per trip with no need to notify the insurer of each trip, just travel
  • Financially dependent children or grandchildren who are under 21 can be listed on the policy and are covered while travelling with an insured adult
  • An excess of $100 per claimable event applies to the policy, and is deducted from the settlement amount for claims made

Annual travel insurance

The QBE Frequent Traveller Policy is available to permanent residents of New Zealand who are under 70. The policy has the same levels of cover as the QBE Leisure International Policy, and may be more economical with as few as two international trips planned over the course of a year. A maximum of two adults can be included on a policy, and dependent children can be covered free of charge while travelling with an insured adult. A commencement date up to 12 months in the future can be nominated when arranging annual travel insurance to ensure cover for cancellation fees, and cover for existing medical conditions is available subject to completing a medical assessment.

Policy commencement

When purchasing a QBE Frequent Traveller Policy, it is possible to nominate a date that you would like the 12 month period of insurance to commence. The commencement date can be up to 12 months in the future, with cover for cancellation costs starting from the time the annual multi trip policy is purchased (subject to the trip falling inside the period of insurance as shown on the Certificate of Insurance). Cover under all other policy sections commences on the day each trip starts and ends when you return to your normal place of residence in New Zealand.

Extending trips that exceed 60 days

Policies have a maximum limit of 60 days per trip. If overseas for longer than the maximum limit on any one trip, cover under the annual travel insurance will cease at the end of the 60 days unless an extension policy is purchased. For any trips that exceed 60 days, it is possible to extend the duration by purchasing a single trip extension policy through our office to cover any additional days. Please contact our office before the end of the 60 day trip limit to arrange that your policy is extended. An extension cannot be issued after the 60 day trip limit has expired.
